Well, I just shared my story (abbreviated) at a NA meeting tonight. Each time, there is at least one who comes up after and says it’s what they needed to hear, commenting on the similarities. Honesty is what brings others out into the clear every time. Extremely greatful to be able to connect with God’s kids right where they are today. So blessed in that way. Your blog is dead on the mark. We MUST share our experience, strength, and hope when called on. It’s God’s way of extending His hand to one of His own. Thank you for the post!

Sometimes suggestions need to be taken at face value. Thank you for the hamburger suggestion. It put a smile on my friend’s face when I showed up with it, and it melted some of that ice that prevents trust in relationship. My friend allowed me to sit in his pain with him as a direct result of that burger, and made one more day of hope (that sunshine you spoke of) possible for him. It is one day at a time for him now, but that first step, that burger, made it possible.
Nina, thank you for reminding me to keep it simple.

For a society where “value” is usually measured in $currency$, this story strikes the soul on so many levels, and “value” is described in it’s true intended meaning. Thanks for describing the power of being the giver and receiver so eloquently–a truly refreshing reminder of what is really important. Excellent post!
